DESPITE the inclement weather last Saturday, Fishguard and Goodwick managed to play the entire game and secure victory at home to Llangwm Seconds. Anthony Couzens won the toss and elected to bowl first on a pitch that had taken a battering overnight from the heavy rain. The Llangwm openers made a watchful start against the bowling of Couzens and Mike Lawrence advancing to 30 before Couzens made a breakthrough and got the first wicket of the match, caught behind by the evergreen wicketkeeper Bernie Armstrong. Llangwm soon recovered and a healthy partnership of 60 was ended when Rob Couzens trapped the other opener LBW for 29. Roger Morgan proved to be a thorn in Fishguard’s side and he soon reached 50 with 42 of those coming via sixes. He was eventually trapped LBW for 60 by Sean O’Connor before the heavy rain forced the play-ers off the pitch. See County Echo for full story ... read on
